Urban Clan won the festival all the course and that we all win. Those who understand and those not. All ...

This is my home - Awards - Clan Urban Light Festival in 2010.

Rafo: the song we were going to send because we were saving it for the album's release, but some friends who had heard we were encouraged to send .... missing one day decided to send it but I had cut off the internet, I tried to send the laptop connected to the neighbor's wifi, but when there was 3% cut, I was stressed out and not sent, and I went to bed already. But the next day I tried again in the morning and the song rose to touch and sent.

Several months later I called a girl to say she had been among the finalists and I thought it was fucking one of my legs, did not believe, but then came an official statement and things changed.

We went with the idea of ​​winning Fusion, which was the category in which we participate, and we wanted to win and with that we were going to feel satisfied. When did we feel a great joy. But when hair Madueño announced that we were the overall winners, and that was crazy.

It is a joy that I share with all of us in this, not because I feel representative of Hip Hop at all, but because if another group had done, I personally would very happy too.

I think many understand this as a step ahead of Hip Hop, rap is done in Peru, and I suppose you have been noticeable these days.

Rafo: Yes, a lot of rappers that I know I have posted, have come calling and I guess you have also felt like winners at the same time, because just imagine, that Hip Hop has gained against the rock, cumbia and all other Gender is amazing, I still do not think so.

They have an album ready for a year and a half, I guess with this award and there are plans to launch it.

Rafo: Look, we have worked with great patience and perseverance. We have worked very hard on this record, we invested heavily in doing so, we set the "Seven Colors" but we could not get it out as we would like. Finally, get us out of frustration not to disseminate our work, we were thinking about a maketa and release as a free download, but luckily we did because we would not have been able to participate in the Festival, as one of the clauses was that the topic should be original. Things happen for a reason. Now it is time to remove, without depending on anyone, completely independent.

Why hardly see them on stage?

Rafo: I think not invite us much because the current requirements of the move are not the same with which we started and do not share. The last few times I've gone to a concert, not to sing, I have seen the move is more solicitous to aggressive. I see people with talent to sing up interesting things but do not go with that, and people do not respond, hangs the public, who are usually boys, I see many teenagers that audience that maybe is with the effervescence of be rude and violent. We do not want to give that audience what they want, we want to show what we are and do, so do not encajaríamos at a concert like today, and I think that is why not invite us. That is why we moved away from but that does not mean that we respect.

With many years present in this, how come the development of Hip Hop in Peru?

Rafo: We feel a little failures, because we start with principles, that while we can make songs like "The Feast", ideology has not changed ...

... What is this ideology?

Rafo: that of promoting social progress, equality, proposing solutions to problems not only stay in the complaint. And I hoped that the move to grow that way, more united and respecting the roots of this. Well, there has been another way and perhaps why it has grown faster than it had to grow. And that is fine, I'm not against it. Only that I would have liked to grow this away, this was developed as a more conscious move.

In these years of work, what are the things they value most.

Rafo: I treasure being able to make the music I make with the people I love, with Neo and Jair worked very well, things flow and things are very easy because we are legs.

Neo: From the beginning the only thing I wanted is to make my music and then find a way for people to listen. And I was convinced it would always be like that with just going to give me the ticket, or 20 lucas and you would only reach to eat a chicken and then you returned you like with it. But in the course were given various rewards: travel, recording with people who never thought to know, the people's support. Although there were more non-economic personal satisfaction, kept you in this, made me think "this is not for the WebAS".

Jair: Produce here is not a "Damn, now we have to produce" at all, we got together and things flow.

Rafo: Yes, and we fucked with laughter.

Neo: Yes, we are legs, sometimes we fight, we have strong arguments, but ultimately, if we stay together is because we are legs, not just get together to make music, but to have fun, talk, eat, webear, screw us.

Finish picking up the disc, what do you propose?

Rafo: The album is called "seven colors" Neo proposed the name, and because the record is a rice with mango, we have merged with Andean music, harps have also Creole guitar, chicha. And we do it with respect, without violating the essence of music that we are proposing the merger. There is also fusion with reggae, is Ysabel Omega. Among other guests are Raul Curo, harpist and Martin La Sarita Choy, guitarist of La Sarita. Also Julio Perez, lead singer of La Sarita, Raul Romero, we did a remix of "Thistle or Ashes" with Eva Ayllon, also Paco Mendoza and Don Caramelo, two incredible musicians that are everywhere in Peru. Since Spain is Sarmiento, another incredible musician.

It took almost 6 months to finish the album, was mastered in Stockholm by the Salazar brothers. There are 16 items that we hope everyone likes it.

After how this work is already cooking?

Neo: I'm preparing an album more like what we did before, without much melting, more old school as I like, I have a free download maketa that I have started and hopefully have it ready by the end of the year.

For your part, Jair, the production moved how do you see?

Jair: Well, all the producers I would encourage them to do new things, they realize that not everything is samplear or be looking for loops, but also seek to compose. Not that I'm against samplear because it is part of this and always will be, but we can explore, give a change to the musical production. Because many people who listen Hip Hop and play an instrument and as they are not included in this. It would be incredible start watching concerts and musicians on stage, I'm sure it would be much else and motivate the public.

After these words I turned off the recorder and Jair came the chelas. I left almost Plate 3 am shitting cold but feeling good, not only by alcohol in my veins, but mainly to see the seriousness and quality of work of Urban Clan, I heard the "Seven Colors" and found that it is a great job.
